about me

I’m Joriel. This blog exists because despite having a whole separate career as a writer and another one as a reflexologist, not to mention two kids, I can’t stop making things. A few years ago, I finally decided to get organized and start a tiny Etsy shop called The Vocabulary.

Most of my crafting is inspired by materials that attract me. I love re-purposing vintage sheets and other textiles to create upcycled clothing items, accessories, pillows, wall art, and gifts for adults and little ones. A lot of my work also incorporates embroidery and applique, especially of words and phrases.

I don’t blog here very frequently, but I keep on making stuff. You can see a lot of it on Flickr here and here. I also keep track of my seasonal knitting at Ravelry.
