I started this project ages ago, inspired by this beautiful blackwork by Cresus Parpi. I’m thrilled to finally have it done, framed, and hanging in our entryway.
The shoe design is from a Dame Darcy illustration. A lot of my books are packed away so I can’t check, but I think it was in my Meatcake Collection.
Each stripe has a different blackwork design.
The shoe is done with a thick random hash of stitches to give it weight.
I’m really happy with this and scheming more blackwork projects if I ever catch up with my backlog of halfdone crafts.
Perhaps the best thing about this project is that I designed it to fit a $4 vintage frame, so it was ready to hang the same day I finished it.
